The Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) refers to the Coordinated Screening and Progress Monitoring (CSPM) System assessments. The FAST VPK assessment is aligned to the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards. The kindergarten and grades 1 and 2 assessments are aligned to the Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards.
FAST K–2 assessments are Renaissance’s Star Early Literacy, Star Reading, and Star Math.

Trip Steps are the most critical reading and math skills and prerequisites for each grade level.
Meetings and Trainings
Renaissance, in partnership with the Florida Department of Education, will be providing K–2 FAST professional development opportunities in the 2026–2027 school year. These opportunities are designed to support K–2 FAST data usage and instructional planning, including reporting, using Star for progress monitoring, grouping students, setting goals, and other learning objectives.
A new course is available in Educator Academy titled “Administering K–2 FAST Star Assessments.” Designed to support test administrators, this course includes an overview of Star Assessments and K–2 FAST test administration policies, procedures, and resources for before, during, and after testing.
