Introducing Keyword Vocabulary for enhanced ELA Practice in Freckle
Students often encounter challenging vocabulary that can hinder their comprehension, confidence, and overall performance in ELA practice.
That’s why we’re excited to announce the release of Keyword Vocabulary in Freckle for grades 3 to 5, a new capability designed to significantly improve students’ independent ELA practice. Keyword Vocabulary aims to provide additional support by offering clear and concise definitions for key terms within passages.
The introduction of Keyword Vocabulary is another step towards making independent ELA practice more effective and supportive for all students. By having access to definitions for challenging words, students can confidently tackle their reading assignments and better understand the passages they are reading, leading to higher accuracy in their answers. This feature is available for all skills, ensuring comprehensive support across different levels of ELA practice.

This is just one of several recent enhancements in Freckle for ELA. We recently introduced ELA Focus Skills Practice; a feature that helps instructors address students’ skill gaps using accurate assessment data from the Star Reading Assessment. Learn more here.
Freckle for ELA provides tailored reading materials at each student’s level, enhancing comprehension and engagement. As part of Renaissance’s Individualized Skills Practice for Literacy, along with Lalilo, it supports all students, whether they are learning to read or reading to learn. Freckle aids independent readers, while Lalilo helps those mastering foundational skills.
