This new myON resource supports students in building background knowledge and vocabulary skills needed to confidently engage with Tier 1 instruction.
Curriculum-Connected Books bring together curated bundles of myON titles at-, above-, and below-grade level, plus titles in Spanish, that are aligned to the topics of each instructional unit for grades K–8. This empowers students to independently explore concepts at a reading level that keeps them motivated and confident, without causing frustration or compromising instructional alignment.
We are starting with Amplify CKLA® and Amplify ELA® curriculum alignments and plan to expand to additional core curricula over time. Even teachers who do not use these curricula can use Curriculum-Connected Books, since many unit themes overlap with topics found in other ELA curricula. Whether teaching classic tales or units on Native Americans, teachers can explore myON Curriculum-Connected Books to support their instruction.
Scaffolded with built-in annotation tools, Curriculum-Connected Books make pre-reading, re-reading, and differentiation simple and effective. Students can engage with texts that directly complement what they’re learning in class, ensuring supplemental content stays tightly connected to Tier 1 priorities.
To browse Curriculum-Connected Books, choose the “Assignments” option and then select the “From myON” option under “Shared Assignments.” Teachers can search by typing in their core curriculum name, grade, and/or unit title. From there, they can assign the full text set so students can self-select books connected to the unit or edit the set to create a more specific collection of titles for students to read.
