Enhance math skills with comprehensive K‒5 Guided Practice in Freckle
When students struggle during independent math practice, having access to additional support to help solve the problems they are working on can promote student growth and free teachers up for other priorities in the classroom. Last year, we introduced Guided Practice, an instructional support designed to help students build skill mastery, for grades 3‒5 Focus Skills. Building on that success, we are excited to share that we are expanding this support to younger learners for the 2024‒2025 school year.
Our interactive, step-by-step instructional support now helps students in grades K‒2 during independent math practice. Guided Practice now includes:
- 100% coverage of all K‒5 math Focus Skills in the US
- Automated read-aloud
- Visual supports
- Age-appropriate content and instruction
How Guided Practice works:
As a student practices independently, Freckle recognizes when the student is struggling and offers a Guided Practice example:
This support engages students in a step-by-step example of how to solve a problem similar to the one they are struggling with, complete with visual supports and instructional models:
Once students complete all the steps in the Guided Practice support, they are rewarded and return to their independent practice with a greater understanding of the skill:
Freckle’s Guided Practice support helps fill in knowledge gaps during students’ independent adaptive practice, ensuring that those who get stuck receive the instructional support they need to continue progressing. This also maximizes teachers’ limited time. We will continue to expand our instructional support offerings to more subjects, grade levels, and use cases as part of our commitment to accelerate learning for all students.
