Supporting students through challenging moments in their learning journey is essential, especially in English Language Arts (ELA), where comprehension and critical thinking are key. Freckle’s new answer elimination feature brings a familiar classroom strategy into the digital environment, giving students more control and confidence as they work through passage-based questions.
Students practicing ELA passage-based questions will now see a small “x” icon next to each multiple-choice answer. Clicking the icon blurs the option, helping students visually eliminate choices they believe are incorrect. If they change their mind, they can click the “+” icon to bring the option back into view.
This toggle encourages students to:
- Apply test-taking strategies they have learned in class
- Stay focused by reducing visual clutter
Build persistence when working through complex texts
In addition to answer elimination, Freckle offers several built-in instructional supports to help students navigate complex ELA practice independently. Keyword Vocabulary provides definitions for key terms directly within reading passages, supporting comprehension without disrupting focus. ELA Hints offer just-in-time guidance for challenging questions, helping students persist through difficult reading comprehension questions.
Integrating instructional support directly into practice strengthens Freckle’s literacy offering and gives teachers another tool to help students overcome challenges in real time while building success for the long term.
