myON News expands to five reading levels for each article
We’re excited to announce that myON News has expanded to five reading levels in English, ensuring more students can read about current events at a level that matches their individual reading skills. With the addition of two new levels, one at the entry level and the other at the most advanced tier, teachers can now offer more reading options tailored to their students’ individual abilities, bridging gaps in literacy while encouraging deeper comprehension.
By offering news at five levels, myON News helps every student to engage with the same current events, improving reading fluency, building background knowledge, and fostering classroom discussions.
How reading levels are assigned
Each student’s myON News experience is personalized through their reading range, which includes both ATOS and Lexile® measures. Reading ranges come from a student’s Star Reading assessment or myON placement test. If no assessment data is available, the reading level is automatically set by grade level.
For world language learners, articles in Arabic, French, Spanish, and Mandarin remain at a consistent Level 2, offering a steady path for building literacy in another language.

An extensive, searchable library
myON News now offers more than 10,000 news articles, all searchable and accessible to students and educators. This rich library reflects our commitment to offering up-to-date content in classrooms and helping students improve reading skills while staying informed about the world.
