Introducing the new 3rd Grade Portfolio Report for Florida SchoolCity customers
Florida educators play a critical role in helping third grade students build foundational literacy skills and ensuring each student has what they need to advance with confidence. To support this work, SchoolCity is excited to introduce a brand new report designed specifically for Florida districts: the 3rd Grade Portfolio Report.
This purpose-built report helps districts easily monitor each student’s progress toward meeting the Florida Department of Education’s student portfolio guidelines for promotion to grade 4. Instead of navigating multiple systems or manually compiling performance data, district and school teams will now have one clear, centralized view of every student’s readiness.
Why this report matters for Florida districts
For Florida students, demonstrating sufficient reading proficiency is a key milestone on the path to promotion to grade 4. The state requires students to attempt items tied to 13 specific standards at least eight times, and achieve success at least six times, as part of the portfolio process.
Previously, reviewing this progress required district teams to:
- Search across multiple assessments
- Combine data manually
- Track attempts at successes individually
- Build spreadsheets or custom reports
- Spend countless hours compiling updates for schools and families
Now, SchoolCity does all the heavy lifting.
What the new report provides
The 3rd Grade Portfolio Report offers Florida educators a clear, actionable view into:
- Student progress across all 13 required standards
- Total attempts and successful attempts per standard
- Where students have met requirements and where they still need support
- Class-, school-, and districtwide trends
- Which students may need additional opportunities before the end of the year
This enables district and school teams to quickly answer questions such as:
- Who is on track for promotion?
- Which standards need more focus?
- Are students receiving enough opportunities to show mastery?
- Where should instructional time be targeted next?
How it works in SchoolCity
Florida users will see a new tab within the Reports section titled “3rd Grade Portfolio”. From there, educators can access:
- A clean, student-level or group-level review of all 13 standards
- Built-in indicators showing progress toward the required attempts
- Clear success counts showing whether criteria have been met
This report is automatically enabled for all Florida districts, with no action required. Non-Florida districts will not see this report since it relies on Florida-specific standards.

More time for what matters most: Supporting students
By eliminating manual data collection and enabling quick, confident decision-making, the new 3rd Grade Portfolio Report gives Florida educators more time to focus on instruction, not on spreadsheets. For districts that previously struggled to track this data at all, this report creates an entirely new capability to support equitable promotion to grade 4 practices.
This release reflects our commitment to providing high-quality, standards-based reporting that helps districts drive growth and accelerate mastery for all students.
