Educator-driven updates enhance Star Phonics
At Renaissance, we value educator insights and feedback, as they are critical for enhancing our products and making daily teaching more efficient and effective. Recent suggestions have led to two key enhancements in Star Phonics for the new school year: new scoring on tile reports and a new login option on the educator tile.
New scoring on tile reports
Educators can now easily distinguish when a student sounds out a word versus pronouncing it incorrectly. While the word will still be marked as incorrect, the screening and diagnostic tile reports will specify which words were sounded out. This new feature will make it quicker and easier for educators to determine to what degree the student is struggling and the level of support needed to master the phonics skill:
Educator tile new login option
The educator tile now features two dropdown options. The first option logs the user into the Star Phonics application as an educator, as usual. The second option is new and directs educators to the test code entry screen for the student device, eliminating the need to log into a student’s RGP account to access the student side of the application. Since the test code entry screen is a universal page, educators can access it on any device using any account—theirs or a student’s:
Once on the page, teachers can enter a student’s test code, and after the student completes the assessment, teachers can enter a new test code for a different student—all without needing to log in and out of accounts on the student device.
By incorporating educator feedback into our development process, we ensure that our enhancements are not only innovative but also practical and impactful, meeting educators’ and students’ needs. We remain committed to this collaborative approach and continually seek out ways to support educators and improve their experience so they can see every student.
