The new myON Fluency Analyzer makes this easier by evaluating student recordings, giving teachers immediate insight into accuracy and speed. By simplifying oral fluency assessment, educators can dedicate more time and energy to guiding readers and fostering literacy growth.
Integrated fluency checks with clear results
The Fluency Analyzer is built directly into the oral fluency activity in myON’s Assignment Creator. When teachers create an assignment, they’ll now see a “Fluency Analyzer” check box, enabled by default, for both pre-made and custom passages. District administrators can turn the feature off at the district level, and teachers can also choose to disable or enable it within individual assignments, ensuring flexibility and control.
Once students submit their recordings, the audio is analyzed using our proprietary AI technology and detailed feedback is provided, including the following:
Words correct per minute measures the number of words correctly read in the first minute to assess fluency.
Accuracy labels provide an at-a-glance performance rating across five levels: Independent, instructional, needs support, needs urgent support, and unscored. (An unscored may result if background noise or other interference disrupts the recording.)
Word-level feedback highlights specific reading mistakes, including:
- Error (blue highlight): Omissions, substitutions, or mispronunciations
- Insertion (triangle marker): Extra words added unintentionally, such as repetitions or self-corrections
