Districts can use the Star Math assessment to gain deeper insight into Oklahoma students’ math achievement and instructional needs

BLOOMINGTON, MN (July 10, 2025) ‒ Renaissance, a global leader in pre-K–12 education technology, is pleased to announce that its Star Math assessment has been officially approved as a Math Screener by the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE).

This approval adds to Renaissance’s extensive portfolio of state-approved assessments and further validates Renaissance’s commitment to providing educators with reliable, research-based assessment solutions that meet rigorous state standards.

OSDE previously approved both Star Assessments and FastBridge from Renaissance as universal screeners for reading and for characteristics of dyslexia under the Strong Readers Act. In creating a companion list of approved screeners for mathematics, OSDE is demonstrating its leadership in state policy designed to provide students with equally comprehensive support in math.

“We are thrilled to expand our trusted partnership with Oklahoma schools from reading to mathematics, as Star Math has been approved by the Oklahoma State Department of Education as a Universal Mathematics screener,” said Chris Wilson, Vice President of Government Affairs at Renaissance. “This approval enables Oklahoma districts to gain deeper insights into their students’ math strengths and areas for improvement.”

In approving Star Math, OSDE confirmed that the assessment meets all of the established criteria for Math Screeners for Oklahoma schools. These criteria include administration three times per year; alignment with Oklahoma Academic Standards; a reasonable administration time; timely availability of results and reporting; and documentation demonstrating valid and reliable outcomes.

Oklahoma educators interested in learning more about approved Math Screeners can visit the official List of Approved Math Screeners page on the OSDE website.
