The phrase “college and career readiness” is used all the time in education, which dilutes its impact but not our intent. As education leaders, we want all of our students to become lifelong learners, successful workers, and empowered citizens. But what’s the best way forward?

Reading and math skills are part of the equation, but we also need to help our students become digitally literate. This includes the ability to:

  • Identify dubious claims and slanted viewpoints, especially on the internet
  • Assess the accuracy of charts, graphics, and other data sources
  • Adapt to new technologies and paradigm shifts
  • Understand media messages—and produce one’s own messages in response

In this research-driven edWebinar, presented by Susannah Moran, Senior Project Manager at myON, by Renaissance, learn practical tips for teaching these critical skills in your district—and for empowering every student to become a more savvy, self-confident reader. Leave with a clear understanding of the four pillars of digital literacy (Equity and Access; Empowered Engagement; Ownership of Learning; and Media Expertise), along with a roadmap for success in the year ahead.

K-12 educators and librarians as well as building, district, and curriculum leaders including reading and literacy specialists will benefit from watching this recorded session.
