Supporting children and their families at home

We’re committed to working together with schools and districts to support you and your children through digital programs and resources. Each program listed below can be used at home to help build your child’s literacy and math skills.

Accelerated Reader

What is Accelerated Reader? Accelerated Reader is an independent reading practice program that helps K–12 students to become confident, lifelong readers through choice.

How does Accelerated Reader work? Students are encouraged to choose a book to read—whether it’s a book around the house or something online. When students are done reading, they take a short quiz. Educators gain insight into students’ reading habits and students see their growth.

How do I find engaging books for my student? With Accelerated Reader Bookfinder, it’s easy to search for books that have a related Renaissance Accelerated Reader quiz.

What is myON? myON is a digital reading platform that provides students with 24/7 access to thousands of fiction and nonfiction digital books—in English, Spanish, and additional languages. myON News provides access to daily news articles written just for children and is within the myON platform.

How does myON work? Once logged in, students can browse thousands of digital books and different genres. As students read on their favorite digital device they can mark-up pages, highlight words, listen to audio versions, and interact with the enhanced digital books.

What is Freckle? Freckle is a free online program that helps students build their math, ELA, social studies, and science skills through practice activities.

How does Freckle work? Students can access Freckle by going to or downloading the Freckle iPad app from the App Store. Students can log in using their name and their unique class code, which you can get from your child’s teacher.

Star Assessments

Star Assessments

What are Star Assessments? Star Assessments—which include Star Reading, Star Math, Star Early Literacy, Star Custom, and Star in Spanish—are valid, reliable computer-adaptive assessments that help identify what students know and what they’re ready to learn next.

How do Star Assessments work? At school, a student would take a Star test on a computer. However, if a school or district decides to administer Star Assessments at home, parents and guardians should receive their student’s login information, along with additional information to help get started.

You can learn more about remote testing with Star in this short video for parents and families.
