Expand Horizons. Teach 21st-century Skills.

myON News, powered by News-O-Matic, provides K–8 students with age-appropriate news articles 52 weeks per year. Articles are timely, interactive, clearly sourced, and cover a range of topics. Students learn about the world around them as they develop stronger digital and media literacy skills.

Engaging & Accessible

Short daily articles on high-interest topics engage all learners—even struggling and reluctant readers. All articles are available in three languages (English, Spanish, and French) and at three Lexile® levels. Embedded supports help students read articles successfully.

Enriches Curriculum

Daily news articles allow you to easily incorporate more nonfiction reading into core subject areas and to increase active learning opportunities. Teacher Guides provide discussion prompts, short activities, and other resources for integrating news articles into daily instruction.

Safe & Unbiased

In an era of “fake news,” it’s critical to provide students with authentic reporting written by professional journalists who model good use of sources. Plus, a child psychologist reviews every article to ensure events are portrayed appropriately for children.

Discover what sets this program apart from other children’s news services.

“It is comforting to know that students are made aware of current events in a very developmentally appropriate way. They can be in tune with what’s going on, but we’re not scaring them.”

Francisca Sanchez Executive Director for Elementary Education, Mission CISD

“One of my social studies teachers praises the program as ‘convenient, current, interactive, and high interest, with good topics for discussion and summarizing.’”

Anna Sell Principal, Oakes Elementary School

“When students read at home, particularly about current events, that’s often a conversation starter with other family members.”

Dr. Anabolena DeGenna Assistant Superintendent, Oxnard School District
