Dr. McClarty will lead the research, psychometric, and content design teams at Renaissance
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (May 28, 2020) – Renaissance, a global leader in pre-K–12 education technology, recently welcomed Dr. Katie McClarty as the Vice President of Research and Design.
Dr. McClarty joins Renaissance with extensive expertise in assessment design, along with K–12 educational research and policy. Before joining Renaissance, Dr. McClarty was the Chief Assessment Officer at Questar Assessment and led assessment development and delivery, psychometrics, editorial, graphics, and training. She also formally served as the director for the Center for College & Career Success in Pearson’s Research & Innovation Network.
Dr. McClarty is the lead editor of “Preparing Students for College and Careers: Theory, Measurement, and Educational Practice,” which is published by Routledge and includes chapters by several distinguished authors describing how to define, measure, validate, and improve college and career readiness. Her past work also includes the co-creation of a holistic college-readiness index for middle-school students, incorporating multiple measures from academic, behavioral, affective, and contextual factors.
Dr. McClarty earned her PhD in social and personality psychology from the University of Texas at Austin, her BS in psychology from Iowa State University, and her MBA from the Carlson Business School at the University of Minnesota.
