Renaissance Teams Up with Teaching Channel to Deliver New Professional Learning Platform

Companies collaborate to provide educators an enhanced professional learning experience on Renaissance-U®

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (June 5, 2018)Renaissance®, a leader in pre-K–12 learning analytics, and Teaching Channel®, a leading online resource for K–12 educators, are working together to provide an enhanced learning experience to educators who use Renaissance-U®, an online professional development solution from Renaissance. The companies will roll out the updated Renaissance-U platform in August 2018, in time for the 2018-2019 school year.

Renaissance-U will now be housed on Teaching Channel’s online professional learning platform Teaching Channel Plus, allowing educators greater interaction with other educators on the platform, as well as the ability to upload their own classroom videos. Teaching Channel will also produce a series of videos to transform the current Renaissance Smart Start online product training, demonstrating best practices for successful implementation of Renaissance solutions.

In her role as the Advanced Academics & Interventions Coordinator at Marshall Intermediate School District in Marshall, Texas, Lauren Thrasher has used both Renaissance-U and Teaching Channel to help facilitate professional development for teachers throughout the district. She has leaned on Renaissance-U to support her instruction of implementation best practices for Renaissance solutions, while Teaching Channel has enabled her to share different approaches to instruction.

“I love that Teaching Channel videos are easy to access and share among the teachers I work with in my district,” said Thrasher. “The on-demand feature of Renaissance-U offers this same accessibility. With the newly enhanced platform and additional videos, I anticipate using Renaissance-U even more next year to create a collaborative and interactive professional development environment for our teachers.”

Renaissance-U provides on-demand professional learning for Renaissance assessment and reading and math practice solutions. Districts that purchase Renaissance-U have access to a dedicated Renaissance Coach and educators receive personalized, ongoing support, along with access to professional learning sessions, videos, and activities. Smart Start is free for all Renaissance customers with purchase of their solution as a quick, go-to resource for successful implementation.

“We are very excited to leverage the power of Teaching Channel to further enhance the award-winning Renaissance-U and transform our Smart Start offering,” said Mona Yoast, vice president of professional services at Renaissance. “We’re always looking for ways to innovate our professional development solutions to ensure we’re providing the most helpful resources and content for our educators to learn how best to put our solutions to work in the classroom. As we were exploring our enhancement options, Teaching Channel stood out as the perfect match. We can’t wait for our educators to have the chance to explore the new environment.”

“Renaissance educators are some of the most passionate users we have on our platform,” said Scott Brogi, chief operating officer at Teaching Channel. “By working with Renaissance, we know we’re tapping into an engaged community of educators who aim to continually improve upon their instruction and apply best practices to help their students achieve phenomenal growth outcomes. We look forward to rolling out the new environment and hearing the real-time feedback from educators this fall.”
