Renaissance Race Against Cancer
5K Walk/Run and 10K Run
The Race Against Cancer was inspired initially by employees who lost their battles with cancer. As more and more of our co-workers, friends, and neighbors are diagnosed with this disease, the race provides an ongoing opportunity for all participants to honor and support friends and loved ones also affected.
All proceeds from the event provide much-needed resources to the Patient Care Fund at the Aspirus UW Cancer Center Riverview. This fund helps local cancer patients by removing barriers that might otherwise restrict access to the life-saving treatment everyone deserves. It provides assistance in the form of gas cards to allow patients to get to and from treatment, co-pays for medicine, necessary supplies not covered by insurance, and even things like replacement hot-water heaters if needed.
As we approach our seventh-annual event, the funds raised from previous years show the difference a community can make. In its first five years, the Renaissance Race Against Cancer has raised more than $155,000 for local cancer patients. It has also brought over 4,600 runners and walkers in the community together to celebrate recovery and commemorate those we have lost.
Whether you run, walk, donate, or volunteer, your support is truly appreciated, especially by the patients who benefit directly from your support.
A display will be available at the race to share the pictures and memories of family members and friends affected by cancer. Please feel free to add a picture or a written memory the day of the race. To share a photo or memory now, tweet to #RRAC2017.
