Response to Intervention

What is RTI?

Response to Intervention (RTI) is a framework for systematically determining how well instruction is working and making adjustments to accelerate learning for all. RTI is a “tiered” model, often illustrated as a triangle with several levels. Each level represents a grouping of students whose differing needs are met with more intensive instructional approaches.

What is the goal of RTI?

The tiers within RTI represent actions, not classifications, and students may move between the tiers throughout the year, in both directions, as indicated by assessment data. The point of RTI is not to identify where students are in a standard normal distribution curve. Instead, the point of RTI is to move the curve and accelerate learning for all students.

Renaissance Tools and RTI

STAR assessments are highly rated for screening by the NCRTI, and for progress monitoring by the NCII.

Successful RTI implementation requires integrated data systems that are easy to use, reliable, and efficient. For more than 25 years, Renaissance Learning has specialized in technology-based assessments for K12 schools, helping educators efficiently use data to accelerate learning for all students. AR 360 is appropriate for all students as part of Tier 1 instruction, however, because of its flexible options for differentiating and activities emphasizing specific skills, it’s also well-suited as a complement for Tier 2 & 3 interventions.
